NB-IoT Modules Power
« on: August 02, 2018, 09:17:41 am »
Hi Forum,

I am working on a NB-IoT related project for use in Norway. I am looking to identify a module that is low power and yet is available easily. For the power comparison I googled and came across this

http://www.ensembletech.in/nb-iot-modules-power-consumption-comparison/

I think going by this post I will go with Digi Xbee module as I already have XBee boards so working will be easier.

Any one here has any experience with these modules here?

I evaluated some Cat-M1 modules when they first came out. My advice is that do some measurements of the energy consumption with your operating profile instead of looking up current consumption from the datasheets. And also check what is the voltage used when specifying the current consumption..

I wish the firmware and network are more mature for you than they were for the M1 project a year ago. It was a pain, but that was to be expected.

Also, first measurements were much much better than with the firmware that finally passed the operator testing and were done in realistic field environment. Fortunately we took a good PPT-factor for the design.
