Passive repeater engineering

This is a technique used to extend the line of sight in RF by means of what is essentially a mirror.

The method was used by the BBC in Scotland to distribute television to the transmitters. The link transmitter in the valley near to the main roads and the power network and the passive site located up the hill were there was no reasonable transport access and no power.

The passive reflector can be a flat panel or back to back SHF dishes with a waveguide connecting the dishes.
