Rotary encoder for homebrew Si570-based SDR
« on: February 04, 2016, 03:28:36 pm »
IMHO, knobs add substantially to the user experience when tuning any radio related device. But SDRs are digital, so knobs need to be brought into the mix in other ways than by variable capacitors.

Good example - use of USB DJ CD mixing encoders.. i.e. "Hercules" etc.  paired with HID key mapping software to create a good approximation of a tunable radio experience. But they are likely overkill for basic SDR applications.

This looks like a good learning experience.
