Forty seven minutes of vintage tube goodness, it is however 22:23 here so this little treat will have to wait until tomorrow, as will the two chocolate donuts in the fridge.

Oh yes. 20 tubes in this old classic rig.

Is the S Meter supposed to operate backwards?

Yes, Believe me it got me too when I fist started working on it. Was thinking why is the s-meter pegging out.  But zero is on the right side of the meter. Also the VFO is backwards from most rigs. Got to love those Japanese design engineers.

Forgot about those. Although I have 3 of them you are correct. May have had something to do with left handed cigarettes in the late 60's.....   :scared:

The one my friend has is also an FTDX-560 in the orginal box, with the manual, looks like someone just pulled it out used for a few weeks and put it back in the box.

Hiya

I have a similar FRDX400 receiver and it is one of the most sensitive receivers I own. It is a joy to tune and has very little drift once warmed up. Its a shame that it doesn't cover broadcast bands as the sound is so good.

Cheers
