Yeah, for just $25 it's probably not going to be using a high spec 95% efficient SMPS IC.
Probably only $5-10 worth of actual parts

Maybe it uses the metal mains prongs as a heatsink, that would be an interesting approach.
Mains socket and house copper wiring as heatsink :P
