That reminds me of AvE's magic wand teardown. It amuses me every time how the shop gorrilla is reduced to a giggling choir boy.

I believe the prices are somewhat extortionate, might need a crowd funder. No manufacturer is going to donate one as they won't want any others to see how they do it.

I doubt Dave would appreciate 'previously owned' teledildonics being sent in to Mailbag Monday, even if you included certification that the item had been autoclaved.

Around 7:20 in AvE's magic wand teardown (Not linked, google for it yourself) you can see the primary to secondary clearance and creepage distance in its integral PSU.  It looks like about 0.05", and as there don't seem to be any effective case seals, one can only wonder how many users have been electrocuted.

Yes that's why I refered to brand new items only, oh and what would it do to the modern youtube system that bans everything?

Yup, aren't they like $5k-10k or something?

Don't turn it on. Tear it apart!

But just this once, on a quiet day in the lab all alone-like, maybe test that it works before you destroy it for the sake of science?   :-// >:D

First, the click bait would be massive
Second, nothing like it on any other channel
Third, how many hits 2 or 2 million. I bet two million.
Fourth, Dave could show up in full scuba, flippers on and The missus standing by with a baseball bat.

Please do it.

What do you expect in a cheap knockoff?

I'd put money on a real Hitachi one being better built.

A Japanese friend told me they are easily $10,000 and treated as a companion, a work of art.  It's a loaded topic as to whether they are just a doll or more.
Romance Doll movie (https://variety.com/2020/film/asia/film-review-romance-doll-romansu-douru-1234705913/)
Lars and the Real Girl movie 2007 (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lars_and_the_Real_Girl) didn't reveal much about electronics...

In 2017, a successful businessman travels to the ends of the earth to find that the perfect woman is always under his nose. He hires a sexy renegade tracker to find an exact duplicate of his android wife.

Cherry 2000: I love you Sam. I'm so lucky to be with you. Kiss me. Ah, that's nice. What do you want me to do? Okay, move closer. Mmm, yes! That feels good. Yes. Yes. Here, faster. Faster! Oh, is that your hand? Let me help you with that. Ah, I like that. Move faster, faster, faster. Yes!

cherry 2000?

Was a movie. The plot always involves weird men and a android.

Weird science. Stepford wives. Electric sheep.

One thing's fer sure, if life imitates art, the futures gonna be interesting.

Taking the "don't turn it on" to a whole new level, eh?

I feel a sex robot probably wouldn't be the most interesting teardown, it'd mostly be the novelty value. I could be mistaken though, they may be more sophisticated than I give them credit for.

Actually a pretty cool movie with some predictive scenes that are almost reality.
Like the man and woman who meet at a bar and they decidecthey want to have sex.
They both call their lawyers which help setting up a legal contract negotiating what positions are allowed for how long etc. etc.  :-DD
Quite brilliant and not far off with some of the extreme "me too" movement escalations1.

By the way when does Rigol start their production ?

1Disclaimer: don't get me wrong I am all for the original me too movement and offenders like Cosby and Weinstein and the sorts belong in jail, no discussion. Just that some cases are now really pethatic where I do not envy young single men these days who have to guess with their crystal ball what the woman wants and where the line is.

I bet BigClive would do it!  He'd put the plastic tits in the hotdog warmer, brings a new meaning to that phrase.

I think two British comedians did a sketch along similar lines

The animatronics would be the bigger part, the actual electronics maybe little more complicated than a singing birthday card :)

Yes, the electronics would probably be a mix of COB for the stuff they buy that is mass produced, like the digital voice package, where you can fit it pretty much into a SRBP  chip carrier like used in greeting cards, and then a few motor drivers for the mechanical partws, and a microcontroller for the smarts.  You could probably use smart lamp controllers for a lot, as it is not exactly high processing power for the most part, just complex mechanically for the "interface" parts, which has to be flexible and heated. The rest is just bulk silicone in most cases poured onto an armature after adding all the electronics and such, and in a polished and waxed mould so the silicone releases properly after curing. Then cleaned and painted.

Yes I have seen and touched them, not the full animatronic ones but the cheaper silent " fully correct" exaggerated Japanese ones, as a shop I know imported 2 of them. Dave might have heard of the ex owner of the chain, he now is living well in Australia, and I have met JT a few times as well.
