Soldering Iron Shootout?
« on: June 18, 2017, 06:51:28 pm »
Hi Dave.

Perhaps you could compare a few of the less expensive (but hopefully not too shoddy) base+iron kits out there?
My trusty Pace is in its last legs and there are so many options for a light / small station.

As always, thanks for the forum, videos, etc.  :)

Being partial to Pace I'll say the best replacement for a PACE is another PACE :)

If three 100  Ohm resistors are connected in parallel, and in series with a 200 Ohm resistor, how many resistors do you have?

I made that mistake too. After 2 years with a Metcal, I now use my old trusty Pace MBT250 again. Replaced the SX-70 with the SX-100 and whished I had done that 2 years ago instead of investing 800 euro in that piece of Metcrap.

I was in doubt too because my Pace was so old. I mailed Pace for advise and they helped me to sort out what to do to update my Pace (partnrs etc)

If you are used to Pace I do not think you like a B-brand. I have good experiance with Weller too. (WS81) I use that for smd)

This is a perfect suggestion! I highly aid it.

He should do one for less than 50$ and one for 100$.
