Switchmode converters and topoloogies (#110 follow-up)

MC34063a boost converter video was interesting but what I miss is a more general roundup of SMPS topologies, at least the basic ones. Basic principles of operation, applications, popular driver ICs, maybe some word on component selection.

Yes I would be very interested in this as well. How about doing a quick "lets design an offline SMPS"? :) I realise the safety concern, but it would be nice to see it done.  O0

Dave has openly stated he does not work around 240VAC if he can avoid it. I would have preferred to see him make an isolated flyback for the uSupply instead of a DC-DC module, but he elected not to, probably for his own sanity.
