USB Oscilloscope review/teardown
« on: March 30, 2016, 09:37:13 am »
Dave,

I know your opinion on USB oscilloscopes but I would love to see some review/teardown of some PC based USB oscilloscopes.
Quick Googling/eBay'ing/Amazon'ing around brought to my attention cheap Hantek 6022BE/6022BL USB oscilloscopes.
Hantek as far as I know is OK brand and USB oscilloscope shouldn't be as bad.

Dave, I'd guess you're not keen to spend your own money.
But maybe someone does have some contacts in Hantek?!

Right before everyone screams and shouts "USB scopes are evil" I'll say in my defence - I do have an analog oscilloscope but it takes 1/4 of my tiny workbench + I'm using it probably once a week so I can't justify spending £250+ for a new scope. USB oscilloscope in my opinion is very good alternative.
Yeah I know some people don't have PC in their lab but for some of us our lab is our "mancave" which even might have little beer fridge... Some of you will know what I'm talking about... ;)

Thanks.

Regards,
Kris M

Many analog Oscilloscopes are intended to be used on a "scope trolley",instead of taking up bench space.
For about what you'll pay for the 6022BE,you can probably make up one of those,or find one on eBay.

That said, there is a long thread on this forum about 6022BE 'scopes which will give you a grasp on their good & bad points.
There are Youtube videos showing them in use, too.
