Video request: Types of transistors
« on: April 19, 2015, 04:17:58 am »
It's getting pretty tiresome answering the exact same question day in and day out.
"What's the difference between a transistor and a MOSFET?" :palm:

Well, what is the difference between a car and an Audi?

So, I hereby request that you make a short video explaining various types of transistors: BJTs, MOSFETs, JFETs and perhaps others (depends on how basic you want to keep it).
Let's clear up the confusion about the types of transistors once and for all.
<fellbuendel> it's arduino, you're not supposed to know anything about what you're doing
<fellbuendel> if you knew, you wouldn't be using it

Yes, and whether each type is current- or voltage-controlled. >:D >:D

It's worth explaining that although voltage and current are dependant, in certain situations it's easier to predict behaviour if thinking in terms of current or voltage.  It all depends on your circuit and how you are driving things.

I have severe problems understanding transistors and those damn formulas. I had issues with Thevenin, now Transistors , transistor  curve and Beta stuff drive me crazy

Really good suggestion. Maybe with two simple circuits that do the same thing using the two different devices.
I told my friends I could teach them to be funny, but they all just laughed at me.

I agree it's a good topic, the tick is avoiding the rabbit hole!
I'll look into it.

Please yes! Could you provide it in a series and show detailed examples running in real hardware and/ir simulator? From basics to different types :)
