add a DC off to a square wave signal
« on: December 27, 2013, 09:04:39 am »
I want to apply voltage like what it show in the picture. (35V DC offset+ 5V 100Hz square wave modulation)

I use a power supply to output a DC, connected to a function generator. I could find an application as the link below, but donnot quite understand how to treat the BNC connector and how to connect wire.

http://www.home.agilent.com/agilent/editorial.jspx?ckey=356756&id=356756&nid=-11143.0.00&lc=eng&cc=US

Anyone who has experience in this application could help?

Looks like normal connection with floating outputs to me.

DC carrier positive is connected to the negative of the function gen, then the 5V from function gen just adds up to the carrier when referenced to the negative of the DC supply.

Works only if the equipment is floating, the picture there has the function gen floating (only 1Mohm connection to the ground, therefore the gound is not shared as the DC supply negative has direct short to ground).
