Multimeter probe caps
« on: March 03, 2023, 08:19:56 pm »
Having just stabbed myself (right on a knuckle-joint!) with the exposed red probe below, I am thinking that getting a replacement for the missing cap for the end of the red probe (like on the black one) would be a good idea. Apparently my google-fu is not up to scratch, because I can't find anything that doesn't want to sell me an entire new probe-set.

Has anyone any idea where I can get the small grey plastic thing that stops me drawing my own blood when fiddling behind the shelving on which the multimeter is stored ? Many thanks if so :)

Maybe something from this catalog section?  Or one of the adjacent sections in their catalog.

A bit of insulation stripped off some wire might do the trick until you find something better.

Look for SMA dust caps. Some are pretty long, they could be exactly what you’re looking for.

Or search Ali for Rubber Sleeve Stopper Silicone Glue Insulating End Caps.

How often you need the sharp tip probe? If not so often I would remove the probes and have regular probes the won't draw blood.

Thanks for the ideas, all - the mention of silicone tips made me think of the silicone tubing I have for the fish tank airline. That has now solved the problem for the time being even if it's not particularly pretty :)
