Anything about the brand: KUST Elektronik GmbH?
« on: December 14, 2018, 12:40:10 pm »
Hi,

Our company is considering to buy a new LCR meter, and a supplier gave us a quote on a KUST LM1050B unit. Specwise it looks OK, their webpage is somewhat vague, but they claim more than 20 years of field experience, but honestly I've never heard about this brand.
Are they selling original and credible products, does anyone has first hand experience with any of their units?

I am not sure who manufatures KUST LM1050B . It looks like made by Applent in China, but I could not find the exact product.
Amazing machines. https://www.youtube.com/user/denha (It is not me...)

This seems to be a rebadged Tonghui TH2826:

Or one from ZXP. There are lots of LCR meters out there from China.
There are small lies, big lies and then there is what is on the screen of your oscilloscope.

Thank you guys for the great replies!
We have been quoted for the KUST at 4800€, as I see the Tonghui is priced similarly, so it is not a rip-off at least...

Where do you want to use it for? In this price range you can also get a vector network analyser.

Damn  thats a fortune  for an lcr,  could an de-5000 do the job ???

Do you need to get  Higher frequencies than 200khz,  normally 200khz would do a very good job if you have serie / parallel modes, esr  ?

Our usage would be two fold. We are building our own 1MHz C-meter with a capacitance bridge as a part of a bigger system. For calibration we have been using (since new) a HP 4280A C-V meter, and for characterizing coils for the associated circuits we have been using a HP 4261A LCR meter. The HP 4261A recently gave up, and honestly after 33 years of service it is about time to upgrade the 4280A too (although that one seems to be going strong still).
So it would be reasonable to get something that can cover both measurements at once. Also we raised a requirement on testing coils at least up to 3MHz, so that points us to 5MHz LCR meters.
