Appropriate kelvin clip wiring for Genrad 1689M
« on: January 23, 2019, 03:00:11 am »
Hey all,

I’m curious what the proper way to wire kelvin clips for my genrad 1689M, specifically I’d like to understand what to do with the outer conductor of the BNC connectors. Do I use coax and just leave the shielding disconnected? Do I short the shields inside the clip? Do I just use plain wire and connect to the center conductor itself at the bridge?

Check if the outer bnc plugs are grounded together, if so   you use the inner bnc pins for the kelvin clips and the 4 wires shield is put together near the kelvin end clips, to provide the shielding.

And if you equipment permit it, you null /zero out the value by shorting the kelvin clps together
