Cover caps for 4mm sockets?
« on: June 11, 2018, 02:44:27 am »
Not sure if this is the right place to post this... but does anyone cover the 4mm sockets on their handheld meters and if yes where'd you get them from?

A couple of days ago I took out one of my lesser used meters from my toolbox and I got an amps input warning on the volts range and I was like "WTF?" Took a look into the socket and lo and behold a tiny screw made its way inside.

Yeah, don't judge :p stuff moves around.

Anyway given that I don't use amps that much compared to everything else I figured maybe I could just apply some cover on them or whatever but I can't for the life of me find any online.

I usually have my probes permanently connected to the other sockets so those are fine.

My Fluke meter came with rubber covers so I imagine you could get them from Fluke.  also I bet Pomona has some kind of dummy plastic plug.

Yeah tried searching ): couldn’t find any.

Which Fluke model by the way? Just curious as I don’t recall mine coming with any...

Some of the weather proof CEM multimeters are also supplied with the jack caps probably to maintain their IP?? rating but I've never seen them available separately.. You could easily turn some up on a lathe or spit a few out on a 3D printer if you happen to know somebody with these machines. There are plenty of other options as well, for instance the plastic 4mm PCB stand-offs are a nice fit, work a treat and no big deal if they get lost.

Short pieces, high value, small period, huge amount, long delay.

Yep, used it at my Fluke 287 above, as I rarely use current measurement, here the part number for Fluke.

You can't find it, srsly?

Yeah, I was originally searching more along the lines of "4mm banana socket cover" and quite a few variations thereof.

"Fluke amp jack plug set" seems rather specific :p

Perfect. Thanks much!~
