Datron 1081 firmware
« on: January 22, 2019, 02:28:31 am »
Does anyone have, or know where I can find them, a set of firmware images of the three CPU board ROMs plus the GPIB ROM?

I have a 1081 and had planned to upgrade it by installing a GPIB board from a 1061. Unfortunately, it turns out that the the GPIB ROM has to match the mainboard ROMs so it won't work. FWIW I found two different versions of the CPU board ROM images here, but sadly they don't include the GPIB ROMs:

I disssasembled the 1081 firmware and the 1071 firmware from w.ko4bb.com which does include the GPIB ROM image. The GPIB code directly calls/jumps to address in the main code (rather than going through jump tables) which are, not surprisingly, in different locations in the 1071 and 1081 ROMS. At least some of the routines are identical however so I may be able to fix up the 1071 GPIB ROM to work with the 1081 ROMs but it could take a lot of work - especially if the RAM data layout has changed significantly as well.
