Nice.  It's a lot cheaper than the IET.

Very good price, with free shipping. Almost too good to be true. Double check everything before you commit yourself.

Yes, I don't see the AC module and the RS232 USB cable and adapter.

I don't care about the USB cable, and I have plenty of isolated AC adapters laying around.  I'm thinking I will pull the trigger on this--everything seems to match up from what I can tell.

do you have your own optical interface? like many handheld meters, the output from the meter is optical before it is converted into a different format (rs232/usb/smoke signals etc)

I don't, but I'm really not concerned with the connectivity features.  I suppose it would be nice to have, but I'd wager that I'll never miss it.  I can't see any need real need for me personally to have computer data logging on an LCR meter.  A 6.5 digit DVM on the other hand...

Here is a post in the classifieds section of this forum:

https://www.eevblog.com/forum/buysellwanted/der-ee-de-5000-lcr-meter/

The pictures he has look identical to the IET version that Dave did the teardown on, including the packaging.  As long as the eBay version isn't a complete counterfeit, this looks legit.  And, frankly, if you were going to counterfeit an LCR meter, why choose a brand name that nobody has heard of?

I think you can just use a IR photo diode in series with a 4.7k resistor and make a cheap ftdi cable from a ca-42 nokia data cable:
http://fabacademy.org/content/tutorials/09_Embedded_Programming/diyftdicable.html
I downloaded IET's software and run it and it scans the com ports.
I had just bought this one for £80
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/231064538566?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1497.l2649
and if customs picks it up I will only have to pay only little bit extra. A bargain O0

It's not a fake. Those Cyrustek chips are not available to shady operators.

I also got one, it is the genuine DER EE model DE5000. IET rebrands them for their own sales. Last I saw on ebay you could get them for 120 USD shipped, with tweezers and crocs. Funny thing is that you can get them at Akhibara for arround 45 € or 60 $!

According to a Google Translate of the FAQ, here is the answer:

[Answer]
We do not dispatch to overseas products. Please give me at your own risk if you want to shipping overseas, the goods you received in the country. We do not create the export-related documents, including the parameter sheet in us.

Make of that what you will...  :D

I also bought a DER EE DE-5000 from some Japanese seller on eBay. Paid about 120€ for everything (including shipping). So far it has proven to be a pretty good meter.
I would only wish that I could get a USB adapter for it.
<fellbuendel> it's arduino, you're not supposed to know anything about what you're doing
<fellbuendel> if you knew, you wouldn't be using it

I still have a couple of those DE-5000 full packages in stock in case anyone is after the complete set with power adapter, Optical-USB cable and software, hard plastic case, etc. Price-wise I don't think I stand a chance against those Japanese sellers on eBay anymore, but they don't offer the full package.
