Title: Does the bandwidth limiter work on a hacked Rigol DS2072A?
Post by: nbritton on September 19, 2015, 02:42:08 am
Does the 100 MHz bandwidth limiter work on a DS2072A that has been unlocked to 200 or 300 MHz?

What makes you suspect it wouldn't?
An even higher BW DSO might also have additional BW limit options.

Because the DS2072A leaves the factory as a 70 MHz scope.

on my hacked to 200MHz DS2072  (not A) with the trigger out fed into ch1 with 50 ohm termination I get
no BW  - 1.52ns rise time
100MHz BW limit - 3.2ns
20 MHz BW limit - 16.2ns

So I can say the BW limit works for me.

And why wouldn't it have the industry standard 20 MHz BW limit?

Sounds right.  :-+

"Hacked" is no different from unlocked-with-purchased-code in this context. The scope doesn't know it is "hacked". A code is simply entered, and the scope enables the options just as if they had been purchased.

And the BW limit works properly on my DS2072A.
