Title: DP832A problem CH1
Post by: salviador on April 10, 2014, 03:11:09 pm
Hi ,
I have a problem in CH1 in the rigol DP832A!
The ch1 is unstable , and I see the code "UR" in the display in CH1 yellow part.
I send the photo.

"UR" is described in the manual, page 2-2, as

Quote
DP800 series power supply provides three output modes: constant voltage output (CV), constant current output (CC) and critical mode (UR). In CV mode, the output voltage equals the voltage setting value and the output current is determined by the load; in CC mode, the output current equals the current setting value and the output voltage is determined by the load; UR is the critical mode between CV and CC. This section introduces the operation method in constant voltage output mode.

I can't see why it would say that from what is shown on the screen.  Setting mine to the same as shown on your screen it seems normal, do you have anything attached to CH1?

No, the channel ch1 nothing is connected.
The CH2 and CH3 work very well.
In the CH1 not out the current!
I recently had a power surge.
I get the impression that I have broken some control or end of CH1.

Is there a schematic of DP800?
I do not have the guarantee.  |O

I take it you have tried a complete power down and restart?

Might be worth a firmware update, can't really hurt at this stage as you have a 832A, it contains new code for all the boards.  Unless you are on the current version already that is.

Details in https://www.eevblog.com/forum/testgear/rigol-dp832-power-supply-firmware-upgrade/30/ (https://www.eevblog.com/forum/testgear/rigol-dp832-power-supply-firmware-upgrade/30/)

I put a copy of the software and instructions up on my dropbox account, https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/18258697/DP832A%20Firmware.zip (https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/18258697/DP832A%20Firmware.zip)

HI, thank you very much for the information!
I try to upgrade firmware.
I have now verified that type of firmware is installed in DP832A, "Digital version 00.01.06"
Tomorrow I try to install the firmware 1.09 that you have kindly sent me

We'll it was worth a try.
Rigol in the EU offers a 3 year warranty, assuming it's less then 3 years old it might be worth sending them an email. There is a contact us on http://eu.rigol.com (http://eu.rigol.com)
Dave's teardown videos of the 800 series might give you a clue as to where to look too.
