Title: DS1054Z firmware 04.03.01.05
Post by: Fungus on September 19, 2015, 03:53:39 pm
I just noticed the DS1054Z firmware on the Rigol web site is version 04.03.01.05, even though the Rigol web page says "04.02.04.07"

http://beyondmeasure.rigoltech.com/acton/fs/blocks/showLandingPage/a/1579/p/p-0019/t/page/fm/0 (http://beyondmeasure.rigoltech.com/acton/fs/blocks/showLandingPage/a/1579/p/p-0019/t/page/fm/0)

(Download the file and unzip it, it's 04.03.01 inside...)

Anybody know the difference between this and 04.02.04.07?

The name, "04.02.04.07", is just an old version of the firmware.  Since then, Rigol has just been updating the contents of the zip file without changing the zip filename.  If you haven't already, just extract the "04.03.01.05" version and install it.  Here (http://beyondmeasure.rigoltech.com/acton/attachment/1579/f-05ba/1/-/-/-/-/DS1000Z%20Firmware%20Release%20Notes.pdf?sid=ErJFAfDAl) are the release notes with the changes.

This latest version 04.03.01.05 identifies itself as "00.04.03.SP1" in Utility>System>System Info.

However, you will get more information about the software/firmware your scope is running, if you print a "Param" .txt file from the Storage menu. What we are calling "firmware" here is what Rigol calls "SoftWare" in the Param listing... and what Rigol calls "Firmware" refers to some other bit of the scope's operating system.

For example, here is the first section of a Param listing from my scope (serial number redacted):

Code: [Select]
Model:DS1xxxZ
SN:DS1ZA170xxxxxx
Manufacturer:RIGOL TECHNOLOGIES
Board Ver:0.1.1
Firmware Ver:0.2.3.11
BOOT Ver:0.0.1.2
CPLD Ver:1.1
SoftWare Ver:00.04.03.SP1

As far as I am aware, only the "SoftWare Ver" changes when a new .gel file (what we have been calling "firmware") is installed.

OK, thanks. I was still running the original firmware, I decided it was time to upgrade and found that weirdness.

I assume it doesn't prevent the hacks from working - there would have been a huge disturbance in the force and at least 100,000 voices crying out in pain if it did.   :)

Mine is now the the same except for "BOOT" - I have version 0.0.1.1
