Given my experience with this type of machine, I'd always use the latest firmware I can get.
Once you liberated the scope and it works reliably *cough* for it's class
you should always
look for infos on the latest firmware.
Of course there might be versions that are less stable that the previous one, but this is discovered
within minutes/hours. So have a keen eye on the internets
There are some threads here where this kind of information pops up very soon after a new
firmware/software is available or even has been sent to a specific person.
How I did it:
When a new firmware came along, I grabbed and saved it.
Then waited a few days to see if something went wrong, checking the forums with a keen eye on that topic. If nothing exploded, I installed it.
No problems this way - for me. YMMV etc.
