I have a Rigol DAS815-Tg which presents an interesting anomaly in the date and time displayed on the screen.
It is normal that we have to set the date and time when turn on the equipment for the first time like when I bought the equipment one and half year ago; however, when the power is turned on for a new use, the date and time remains in the status of the moment that the power was turned off.
Obviously I thought that this anomaly was caused by the discharged internal battery but the problem persists even with a new battery.
Any suggestions on this issue will be very welcome.

maybe RTC dead on arrival?

It could be but the clock runs while the equipment is turned on.

Yes, I think it's more the RTC clock powered by the internal battery that is somewhat defective and won't run with battery power. Can you measure the current drain for the battery (too see if it's powering effectively something or if it's floating or if it's shorted and drained quickly)? I'm just guessing
