How on earth do you remove the little brass insert?

There's a circlip style thingie (e ring/clip) behind the circuit board that keeps it retained on the front housing.

Once you undo the screws holding down the PCB, the PCB should just lift out (may need a bit of a lever) leaving the brass insert behind in the case.
You do NOT have to remove the plastic clip in order to get the PCB out of the case.
