Feeltech 2300 DDS function generator hack ?

I grabbed a 12 mhz Feeltech function generator off ebay for $75.  Not too bad for the money.  Checked with a spectrum analyzer, the harmonics are surprisingly low.  I was reading a thread on the Feeltech 3224 series and saw the hack to open up the frequency range.  Tried it on the 2300 to no avail.  Anybody have a software hack for the 2300 series ?
