Nope - had a few emails back & forth with Andy Tiech after the review but nothing since the teardown (last email didn't really expect a reply though). However the soft case looked like it got ordered internally by AT well after the TD vid.
Half thinking about sending a request for a F1 to review..... maybe after the CES fuss has died down.

Would love to see it.  Even though I recently picked up an E4, I would consider recommending this unit to friends who didn't want to spend the extra $.

I couldn't care less about that - there will be plenty of reviews once it hits the ground -  I want to see how practical it will be to drive the sensor without an iphone!

Thought that the Flir One immediately would generate massive response. In my mind is a remarkable technical achievement and it's performance is good enough for it to be truly useful at the same time as the price is reasonable.

However, after talking to about 20 friends, most of them working with technical things, I've had very weak response.
Only one person so far fully understood how useful a device like this could be and he was very excited.
This has made me wonder if Flir simply was a few years ahead of time with the Flir One.
It seems like most people simply never heard of thermal imaging and even if they heard of it, they don't understand the concept or what it can be used for.

I would love to have the Flir One myself. It is difficult for me to motivate buying one though since I already have the "E8" and since i would also have to buy an Iphone to use the Flir One.

Well, this looks like something new to the market. Let's hope that in the next 5 years, the price of these cameras will drop to under 50 bucks :)
But for now, Mike's firefighter thermal imaging camera was probably one of the best deals out there. I mean, high quality IR camera with high fps? And under $1000? That is just insane.

I suspect the vast majority of sales will be as a "cool toy", though I'm sure it will be genuinely useful to some people.
Like the E4, and then the hacked E4, it will increase the number of people using TICs.
My guess is that a major reason for releasing this product is to find new untapped markets for the small, low-cost TIC core.
Unfortunately it looks like for the forseeable future they will only be talking to potential high volume users of the Lepton core.
Will be interesting to see if any devboard type offering will be forthcoming, though if it does I doubt it will be cheap or unencumbered by the typical NDA bullshit.

i hope they will use Bluetooth or something that can used both in android or Iphone

although its under $500. but if consider only can operate using iphone 5.. the total price is more then $1000.
so for people that not using iphone is better stick to E4

note: not every country have a iphone bundled to price under $500

Just been diggng around Flir patents,  and found this, showing construction details of the Lepton package.
The sensing part looks quite similar to the E4 sensor

Probably the same sensor, but using those that were too bad to use in the E4 but still work.

Actually, I doubt that. In the video it looks to be no bigger than 2-3x the size of your typical SMD chip camera (like in mobile devices) so I doubt it could fit the 2-3cm diagonal seen in the E4. But a teardown will clear this up.

It's smaller than the E4 sensor, but looks like it uses similar construction. Module is about 10x10mm.
The patents mention a few specific sizes from 32x32 to 120x160,

A guy from FLIR is showing the sensor at 1:46 in this video:
According to him the sensor is 8.5x8.5x5.5mm, or similar size as a CMOS-sensor in a mobile phone.

Just had a reply to my enquiry on Lepton cores.
MOQ of 1000, price $250, projected delivery May.
And of course NDA to get any info.

Interestingly, attatched to the mail was the report forwarded from their web-marketing company, which included my past visits to their website

Announcement says shipping in the US....

_if_ they are shipping to US only, and are doing it in order of the "reserve" list, if anyone on the list but not intending to buy is prepared to buy & ship to me , please PM - I will cover all costs.
Let's see what happens...

I think I heard about it from you!  Got on the list about five minutes later.  I suppose that was pretty early.

this is a small issue. just use a VPN to overcome the geo blocking. and use a freight forwarder to ship it to your country. i do this for many products i bought in USA. depending on delivery countries some freight forwarder shipping rate is cheaper than others.
