Fluke 87V showing strange values for smd Tantalum caps
« on: May 23, 2018, 09:53:53 am »
Hi

I am using my Fluke 87V from past two years without any problem.I recently bought some solid smd tantalum caps & while testing the value,i found something weird...
These are 10uF tantalum smd caps(case - A/3216/1206).This is the link for the capS - https://www.sunrom.com/p/10uf-25v-tantalum.The problem is ,whenever i am testing the caps(I bought two of them),the fluke is showing nearly 4.66uF.
But for all the other caps(Electrolytic/MLCC/Polyester/Normal Tantalum) I am testing,Fluke is returning proper value within spec.I also took image of the caps & zoom them & found that they are rated for 10uF.(I suspected that 4.7uF sent instead of 10uF).

What can be the cause?

Have you measured them with anything else to verify there wasn't a mixup at the capacitor factory?

He bought only two pieces no brand caps from this so called "SUNROM", quite questionable imo.

Buy from different "reputable" brand and genuine one of course.

Also 4.66 uF is close to 4.7 uF ... relabelled ?  >:D

I am suspecting that somehow they labelled 4.7uF caps as 10uF.I mailed the website admins about the incidents with photographs.Waiting for the reply!
By the way,i am uploading the pics here...

Ok,i got reply from the supplier. The caps were made of AVX.They also tested random caps & found the same inside the roll.

They are also in doubt regarding the same.I am attaching a screenshot of the mail sent by them..
