Hi Guys,
Picked up an old Fluke 97. Unfortunately seller "forgot" to mention that several keys are non-functional. Looks like the keypad membrane is defective.
Downloaded the service manual online, but it looks to be the wrong one for this meter. My meter has a flexible membrane containing the keypad contacts, which connects via a ribbon cable which has 16 embedded wires. The manual I downloaded does not show this foil, and the schematic shows all 39 keys connected to ground on one side, and with individual connections into shift registers - this would require at least 40 connections (plus the power key). So it would seem the schematic does not reflect my meter.
It seems Fluke/Philips changed the design at some point.
Does anyone have, or can point me at the correct manual/schematic for this meter? I've searched online, but all I can find is the same manual which is for the later revision.
Thanks,
Dave
PS: Has anyone tried/used the board that replaces the membrane which is available from "ScopemeterRepair.com"? Looks like it would be a good (if expensive) solution, but I wonder how well it fits as it has to be larger than the original membrane which is very thin...?
