Function Generator LCD Repair
« on: December 24, 2014, 06:44:23 pm »
I got a second hand function generator (Rigol DG1022) off of ebay, and it arrived with some damage that was not mentioned in the description :(

It's got this weird distortion on the display, like so

and it is still sort of visible when the display is off.

Does anyone know what this is, how it occurred, and is there a fix for it?  I've never seen anything like it before.
Are there replacement LCD's available for the Rigol DG1022 function generators?

It doesn't look like lcd damage to me, more like some dirt or string. Have you tried cleaning it, maybe take it apart and try to remove it from the back side?

I've seen that on DMMs that have been left out in the cold below freezing but while running.

As for a replacement screen I couldn't find the part number, only that it's a 256 x 64 with 4 gray levels. So if it bugs you enough, you'll have to open it up or find a teardown that has the part number. Also if you have the LCD physical dimensions and number of pins going to it, it might help find the part.

But if it was me, I will live with it unless it's growing. Maybe you can contact the seller for a partial refund.

HI, I have a DG1022 and I also have the same problem. It's an internal leakage from the LCD
