Function Generator on side

Quick, hopefully simple question. I'm curious if there is any reason I couldn't keep/run my DDS function gen (TTi TG1000) on it's side. There are no vents/airflow holes, so that's not an issue... I'm mainly curious if there's any downside to an oscillator being oriented on it's side. Guessing no, but just thought I'd ask. =)

P.S. You may think it's a silly question, but did you know mechanical watches will run at different speeds if kept at different angles (see Rolex documentation cited here: http://beckertime.com/blog/2012/is-your-rolex-running-slow-fast-or-both/ )

I wouldn't have thought it was a problem.

Two things you might want to consider are:

Are there any heavy components (transformers) that might put strain on their mounts? (Assuming its a switched-mode supply I wouldn't think the transformer is very heavy.)

Thermal convection. Even if there are no vent holes in the side, it might be designed for hot air to rise and go out vents in the back and if you mount it on its side the warm air might collect somewhere else. Again, since this isn't a high power device except perhaps the output amplifier, it probably won't be a big issue.

The transformer is a good point. The OEM said it isn't a problem, so I think I'm good, but thanks for the replies! Here's to making more room on my bench... To fill with more stuff!

You will get very small shift in frequency from the crystal oscillator if you orient it differently, but you can of course calibrate the oscillator in this orientation if you want to.

The shift in frequency is probably only measurable if you compare it to a rubidium standard or such, so if you can live with a few ppb in difference on the side you will be fine

Yeah, no Rb (or Cs) standard here, so no big deal.
