Not only. It may be due to:
– safety: increased effective distance between two ends
– reliability: one fails short but the resistance remains fairly unchanged
– tolerance: many 1% resistors in series will yield smaller total tolerance

The part marked with A0W is a AD8672ARMZ. That looks like the driver for the ADC.

The reference for the ADS1259 could be the AD780A.

I myself was born in Germany and like the general build quality and engineering. Especially Festool, Wiha, Miele, Ersa, Wacker, Hazet and Zweibrüder have never disappointed me. However most reputable German companies could learn a thing or two when it comes to customer service, marketing and pricing.

Nothing to do with electronics, but I just love my Festool TS55EBQ circular saw and Rotex 90 sander. Next buy would be a CTL MIDI vaccum from Festool !

I use my Festool VAC SYS vacuumpump in combination with a vacuum reservoir and vacuumvalve for my Weller desoldering iron, works like a charm with -0.9 bar.

Agilent 34460A?

Well, I can't argue about the price, a bit higher than it should be. 

As for the 34460, it runs a m$ OS, so it has zero value to me.

But on the other hand the Hameg can measure up to 10A and frequency up to 700kHz opposed to 3A and 300kHz as the Agilent can do.

The ethernet interface of the Agilent has to be paid extra, for the HMC it's included.

Also the Agilent does not include measuring lines - OK, not the most important criteria, but it makes the Agilent again more expensive.

If accuracy is the most important issue, I would prefer the Agilent, if the complete package is more important, I would prefer the HMC.

Consider the Rigol dm3068, too. It can measure between 60pF - 100mF (!!!) accurately. It has 6 1/2 digits (>2 Mcounts) and a better temperature function. The display is much worse of course and Rigol service sucks. Also it's bigger but a tiny bit cheaper. I think it's still a tough call.

One important note, the Hameg can currently only read RTDs, not say type K thermocouples.  The DC resolution is there, I see no reason they couldn't enable this with a firmware update, probably never happen though.
