HP 8015A Pulse Generator Intermittent Power Up
« on: September 17, 2018, 04:19:03 pm »
I recently acquired an HP 8015A Pulse Generator.  It seemed to work great when I first turned it on.  However I started noticing intermittent power up issues.  After about 4 hours of troubleshooting I noticed in the manual a comment of an 8-second safety delay (capacitor/resistor) after instrument shut down.   This is mentioned 'briefly' twice in the manual and is easy to miss.

If you turn the system off you have to wait about 10-seconds before switching it back on or else the power supply will be disabled.  You have to wait the full timeout or the unit won't start.

Hope this saves someone else some time & troubleshooting...
