JBC Compact Station CDE
« on: May 24, 2018, 08:39:38 pm »
Announced last November 2017. I never saw it for sale or on their website.
Does anyone know when is coming out?

I contacted JBC in the beginning of 2019 and they told me back then that they intend to introduce the station in March 2019.
They also told me that the CDE stations are a replacement of the older CD stations that Dave uses. But the price will be "slightly higher".

Now JBC has announced that station ... again.

Maybe Dave get one for review?
If the price is ok I'll buy one next year. If no one's reviewed the device by that time, I would upload a review.

Has anyone heard any news on this station?

I recently discovered that the TS100 wipes the floor with my HAKKO station.  There are some significant ergonomic problems with TS100.  Therefore, I was considering biting the bullet and getting an JBC CD-1BQE.  Then I noticed the new CDE-S on the JBC site.  Trying to decide if I should buy the CD-B or if I should wait for the CDE-S.   I'm thinking since this product has apparently been "coming soon" for several years that it's vaporware which should be ignored.  Opinions?

I purchased the BT-2BWA .

Or from weidinger.

Best station in my opinion. Less unnessecary buttons / displays.

You can adjust the temperature faster than with the station with buttons. Less things which can be broken.

It is March 2021 already, but looks like this soldering station is still under development. Here's the statement I received from JBC couple of weeks ago:

Quote
We are still making some final decisions about it. We apologize that we cannot give you an exact date nor price.

I really hate when you are a fan of some OEM, and then the company does things like this and you struggle and change your equipment purchase decisions because of the hope, which might be left unfulfilled for YEARS.

I ended up going with CD-1BQE.  I'm happy enough with it, but I would have preferred CDE.   Hopefully CDE will take 210 and 245 tips, as I've got a sizable collection and they're fairly expensive.

I would not have believed this if someone told me, but one of the best things about the JBC station is the variety of tips.  Having a specialized tip for a job makes things so much easier than trying to do everything with a normal beveled tip.

That's a pretty funny statement, since the JBC press release from 2017 says:
Quote from: JBCtools.com
JBC, a leading manufacturer of soldering and rework equipment, has improved its best-selling product and has launched the new branded Compact Station CDE.

From what I've gathered, they're having trouble with the validation against the product claims, i.e. that the feedback accurately reflects the quality of the solder joint.

I will be reviewing one of these the moment it gets released (if it ever does)

I was also interested in getting the LC-1BTA since last year because it seemed like a great budget option, but it seems to have disappeared into thin air as well. :-//
