Micsig TO1104 Firmware Upgrade
« on: July 24, 2018, 12:38:25 am »
Does anyone know if Micsig has or will come out with a firmware update to correct the time base sequence in the Micsig TO1104 scope?

My scope has a 4mS setting which should be 5mS to be in keeping with the 1-2-5 sequence of the time base.  It doesn't hinder me from using the scope but it is an annoyance.

I've written to Micsig about this multiple times and have never gotten an answer.

I purchased a TO1104 through Amazon about three weeks ago. Time base in that range is 10ms/5ms/2ms/1ms.  No 4ms.
"Version Info" under settings is 9.15.1.306

Hmm. Interesting. They've made a newer version it seems of the hardware and firmware. My TO1104 from late last year is 8.14.1.287 and shows 4ms. The last number is the firmware version/build so yours is newer. The EU online update site only shows version 273 and the China online update site only shows version 287.

Hello,  We are sorry that our sales did not reply you ASAP. next time if you do not get the answer in time, you can email me here and i will do my best to answer you.

For your question, i tried to explain in English.

Measurement duration = memory depth/sampling frequency.

our tbook mini is 14 grids.

so 4ms/div=28M/(500M S/s*14div)

our scope uses 1 -2-5 steps, but when they are in special time base, it is not 1-2-5. some scopes uses same way.

all firmware versions are same.

However, thanks for your remind, I told our IT team to update the newest firmware soon.

As I know, they are testing automotive functions right now, but it is not ready to be released. so they do not update the firmware in our server system.  if someone want to test free automotive(PS, it is not perfect right now), you can contact me here to get the free license. but i do not promise it works to all customers.

I would be interested in the automotive functions but what is included with that? Protocols, automated measurements, diagnostic functions?

Strange, but when I went to look at my TO1102 again, the 5ms range had disappeared and I was only getting the 4ms range.  After checking all the settings, discovered that the "sample" mode is what causes the difference.  If I chose "average", I get the 5ms range, if I chose "normal" I get the 4ms range.  Had not made that connection before. I think that's what Micsic was trying to explain:

Yes strange, I still judge waveform changes against the grid lines so I think I'd count the ms/Div changing between sample and average as a bug!
.  That took much longer than I thought it would.

Same here. I used to use average quite a lot and didn't notice any timebase changes. So, I guess, it's a display/rendering issue (don't have my to1104 at hand to check this).

We are Micsig Distributors in the UK and Ireland.

Are you still have in the issues you've mentioned about and is there anything I can help with?

Thought maybe there was something new for it so I grabbed mine to peek what it was running.

Under Information

Version Info 10.15.1.349
Firmware Date 1-10-2019 16:41

When I first got mine I just connected to my wifi and ran update - network and it just fetched this and updated itself.  Check of the network update today, reports its running current.

I think only the last number is the firmware version. Other numbers are hardware revision or something.

Bazaar.

Three of us all with the same version and all different dates?  Looked up my order and the order was placed may '19, so unless the clock was off...  I know it ran an update when I got it.  Not sure how it would have the current date/time unless it run NTP or something.  You don't seem to be able to enter it anywhere.  Even then...yesterday was the second time I ever connected to the my network.

Hello all,

my TO1102 scope had firmware 9.15.1.349 from 2018-08-21 16:09 installed.
If I check for updates I get a message that the firmware is latest. Can that be confirmed?
No newer ones as for the TO1104 model (10.15.1.349)?

Thanks

Chris

Just hooked mine up via WiFi to double check and as with dekagon above I have the same firmware 9.14.1.349 so are you sure about the 7 in front of yours?

Reply back from Migsig was "Current version is latest!" btw. on a TO1104 with most of the options.

Afaik first number or two are hardware revision. Mine is, afaik, 7.xx I thought that was the latest. I wonder what they changed.

Interesting so the latest firmware should read X.14.1.139 then.

Just tried looking at the Micsig website and page 1 of the firmware downloads is Broken http://www.micsig.com/html/list_60_3.html so the only way to get a current firmware update is via LAN or WiFi.  :-//

Yes, their website is horribly broken since a long time ago.

I also found they have a Chinese forum on their website. I used google translate to read it. Not sure how I found it, may be by registering on http://micsig.com/User/Login/. So, it seems the community is fragmented.

PS I think there is a way to download firmware update. I think the scope checks this link for downloading new updates: http://www.micsig.com.cn/upgrade/config.xml . There you can see firmware URLs too. See discussions here: https://www.eevblog.com/forum/testgear/micsig-tablet-oscilloscope-tbook-mini-to1000/50/

In my opinion, the XML file may be not up to date. I recently received my STO1104 with firmware 1.0.102. I wanted to try the WIFI update process, so I click the 'Un-install update' of Oscilloscope App. Now it reverts to 1.0.99. In the XML, the latest version for STO1104 is 1.0.56.
I don't know how to get back the 1.0.102.
