Title: Rigol MSO1104Z options
Post by: Jeff5341 on December 17, 2015, 03:45:17 am
Has anyone been able to access the Rigol MSO 1104Z options?  I tried the key generator, but got an invalid license message.
Thanks, Jeff

What options are you talking about?

You mean unlocking extra features?

It doesn't work on the MSOs.

Oh, I thought you meant using the same methods as the DSOs.

It is possible to hack it but it's much more involved than just entering a code generated online using your serial number. You need to open up your 'scope and use a JTAG device to dump the contents of the flash memory for the keygen.

I see you're already reading the "Sniffing the Rigol's internal bus" thread where this being discussed. That's the place to be.

Yes, I'm there! And I already know that it is possible and that it involves to get an FTDI JTAG dongle, assemble the wires to connect the dongle to the scope's JTAG header, dump the memory at the correct precise time and finally generate the keys... The trick will be to hit the spot, the correct timing to dump the memory!

What firmware are you on? I just successfully unlocked my mso1074z-s on fw 4.0.3.SP2 using the special version of rigup-0.4.1 and a jtag memory dump. It sounds like there might be a timing trick to when you need to take the memory dump. I would suggest halting the processor immediately after the rigol logo disappears and the options menu appears.
