Title: Need help with Rigol DS2202
Post by: rcorwin3 on July 28, 2016, 11:34:41 pm
Hello All,

I hope I am asking these questions in the right forum....
I just recieved an used Rigol DS2202 for 600.00 US off of evilbay.. I felt it was a pretty good price?
Anyway, it is missing the intensity knob which I didn't notice. I have been searching and I cannot even find a hint to one. Does anyone know of a source for this part or have a junk one they can sell to me?

The other issue I need to ask your opinion and wisdom on about this scope is that it came with the official version. Instead of 300M bandwidth it is 200M. Also the hardware version is 1.0 and the software version is 00.01.01. Is it worth trying to upgrade? I am not really concerned about the bandwidth but about some of the other features that may need upgrading.

Thank you all very much as I am still pretty new to all of this!

My best,

rik

Is it a DS2102 or DS2102A? But yes, would definitely recommend upgrading the firmware either way, 00.01.01 is a very old version. Rigol has fixed quite a few bugs and introduced several new features in the newer firmwares. I would definitely recommend installing the latest version, 00.03.04SP2 (full version number is 00.03.04.02.01). If its the non A version I believe it can only be hacked to the 2202 version (200 MHz), but the A models can be hacked to the full 2302 (300 MHz). Either way you should be able to also enable all extra features at the same time.
