I'd guess that this is a 6 channel scope. Or maybe it's 4 channel + 2x16 digital channels. In either case, clearly they are doing the knobs-light-up-with-selected-channel Obviously all of people who complain about only one knob per channel will be either (6/4) = 1.5 or (6/1) = 6 times more annoyed with such a thing, depending on their mathematical inclinations.

But in any case, it looks like there are 6 channels worth of lit up buttons on the right. And it clearly appears to have 4 analog scope channels before the shadow hides whatever they are hiding.

Whatever. I won't be able to afford it.

Big ups to our loved brother mike who basically destroyed the probability of his winning this scope while ever so slightly increasing the probability that one of us will score one.

32ch MSO

but.. why 32 channels?
Because it's "More". like 2GHz is more. Tek have failed to keep up with the competition on similar specs, so maybe now they're trying to find niches not served by them.

I have (only once) used all 16 channels on my MSO. It was an unusual case for sure.
I wasn't being entirely serious about 32ch MSO, but it would be a relatively cheap way to claim "The Most channels". I highly doubt it's >4 channels at 2GHz though ( or if it is, the price is way into 5 figures for that configuration)

Though re-reading the Tek site : "...with unparalleled digital visibility..." maybe it is more MSO channels

I think you were right on. I bet the 1st column of 4 status buttons are for the analog ports, and the 2nd column of 2 status buttons are for two sets of 16 digital ports. Yep. I think your sarcastic guess did better than our well-intentioned ones.

I super agree on the price, though. I imagine this will still halve in bandwidth twice as you use 2, then 3 channels. Having that same procedure with 6 channels only makes it worse, and raises the price even more.

I'd guess that this is a 6 channel scope.

Of course it is, it's so obvious.  6 channels, launch date 6/6.  (6/6 is a Tuesday, why would you launch something on a tuesday if it was just a random pick)

I will be VERY surprised if the EEVBLOG lab gets one, for some odd reason TEK hasn't sent him a dam thing after he reviewed the MDO3000 review. :wtf:  :bullshit:

Looking at the large, square shape/size of the input holes, I wonder if maybe it has plug-in optional front-end modules.

From the disclaimer:
The Sweepstakes is not available in countries, states or provinces where local laws prohibit such offers, including Belgium, Sweden, Italy, Spain, Puerto Rico, and Quebec, Canada.
Really? These countries does not allow this? How comes?

The winner is responsible for all country, state, local income and/or other applicable taxes, fees or surcharges associated with winning and accepting a prize.
Uh oh - this can be a few thousand bucks then for import VAT and tax (depending on the SRP of this scope)?

Tektronix is dead, the Danaher doesnt even try to keep it alive, they are just milking the Tektronix name while it last.Keysight,Rohde & Schwarz and Lecroy poop all over Danahetronix.Once the kind of people who buy it just becose it have Tektronix name due to memories of old analog scopes that were high quality back in the day disappear, then Tektronix will end becose new electronic engineers arent going to know much about analog scopes so they will go for better performing Keysight or R&S.

It looks like TekVPI connector for active probes.

They're worried that he might do a drop test and throw it on the concrete again. ;)

I am hoping for a scope that offers definitive answers like:

Q_Me: 'Is my design working?'
A_Scope: 'Of course, you are amazing. This design works perfectly!'

Piccies for those who don't want to hunt through the video:

So its the VPI interface which is no surprise, and leveraging the touch screen heavily with few physical controls.

every year is a new era... i hope in 20 years, Rigol will come up with cheaper option than this scope 2nd hand...

Not that this scope is an MDO (it does not appear to be), but serious question: do any of those companies offer an MDO? Isn't that something has Tektronix has introduced since the acquisition?

I can find lots of MSOs from all three of these companies, but maybe they call MDOs something else?

Not really - just based on observation - They're still plodding on with ancient designs with 2.5k memory, and apart from the MDO ( with a terrible  slow UI ISTR) haven't done anything remotely innovative in over a decade. Keysight have been streets ahead of them for years, and R&S look like they could become a major player.
Maybe if Tek have still been managing to sell some of their overpriced dinosaurs on the back of past glories, they've earned enough  cash to develop something really interesting, but on past form anything new has to be firmly in the "We'll believe it when we see it" category.
