Positive / Negative Voltage with Siglent SPD3303X-E
« on: September 18, 2016, 09:55:56 pm »
Can the Siglent SPD3303X-E provide a +/- voltage output? Attached image shows how they describe the 'series mode':

In series mode would you simply connect to Channel 1 '+' or Channel 2 '-' for the zero reference? Or ignore 'series mode' and just jumper externally?

Series mode is using 2 channels connected in series internally to double the output voltage but in doing so you only then have 1 fully adjustable channel. As the outputs are isolated from mains ground you can indeed just reverse the leads to provide the negative supply you need.

I probably should have been clearer than '+/-'. What I wanted to verify was that it could provide dual polarity, supplying both + and - voltage to, say, an op amp. It's pretty clear to me now that it will be able to and not have any bizarre hidden gotchas in the design or user interface.

I was just being overly cautious since I was about to order the Siglent, which I've now done.

I'm pretty new to electronics. I was going to order the Rigol DP832 but then I decided that the floating outputs on the Siglent were worth more, to me at least, than any other advantages of the Rigol.

Yes it will give you 0V as you describe:

"simply connect to Channel 1 '+' or Channel 2 '-' for the zero reference"
