Probe head pinout for MSO versions of DS1xxxZ
« on: April 14, 2016, 08:24:57 pm »
I am curious if anyone has reverse engineered the pinout for the Rigol DS1xxxZ scopes with MSO functions.  This is for a Hackspace project so £s saved matter more than time spent.

The probe head is £240, and we think we can do better. I believe the connector is a simple SCSI connector (looks like HD68), the signals are differential, and there is some limited communications or voltage level setting for the head.  We are also looking to find out the type of signalling (differential: ECL, CMOS, ...?) Since the signals go directtly into the FPGA I suspect it is differential CMOS of some kind, probably low voltage levels, but I am not sure.
