Title: Probes for LeCroy LT342 500MHz
Post by: MrPuhur on February 27, 2018, 03:19:31 pm
I recently bought a LeCroy LT342 500MHz, 500MS/s 2 channel scope. It came without probes, so I need to get some. Note that I don't have that much experience with any scopes.

The original probes, LeCroy PP006, are rather expensive. I don't think I'll be needing 500MHz probes either, since the scope only has a 500MS/s ADC and I'm not planning on looking at repetitive high-frequency signals with it, rather digital comms and other transients. Tell me if this is a stupid idea.

If not, my plan is getting 3rd party probes for it, around 250MHz. You never know though, so the higher the bandwidth, the better.

I've found a few myself:

(I've given UK links so it'd be readable to everyone)

Are these any good and do they look like they'd work on the scope? Or should I get used, but better spec'd ones?

Second hand LeCroy PP-005 or PP-006 probes aren't that expensive on E-bay and they're NICE probes.  That's what I use. But you have to shop around to find ones that include the ground clip or other accessories if you need them.

How do you like your LT scope?  I've been thinking of buying one to replace my failed LC 354.
