programming a R&S AFGU AWG
« on: January 26, 2014, 12:23:24 pm »
I have this R&S function generator and a pdf from the manual. It is possible to program waveforms from the keyboard. I have no GPIB interface. Not that I need that function a lot but now and then it coould be handy to make a custom waveform..
More info: http://www.pa4tim.nl/?p=2417

Does any body have experience with programming waveforms for this beast and enlight me, because it is very complicated or I'm just to stupid for it  ;) (I'm better in repairing analog electronics as in operating digital menu driven ones)

After reading a part of a topic about programming a Chinese AFG I was triggered to search info about programming mine and so I found this topic, to bad it turned out to be mine with no responses.

But regular looking for documentation you could not find in the past, is often useful because more and more doc gets online over time.

It is still going strong, it is a truly wonderful instrument with great performance but there is one big disadvantage with this kind of kit. Nobody seems to have problems with it so it is hard to find info on forums. That is the advantage of Chinese gear, they have so much problems that, after a while, they all are documented into great detail on forums.

Maybe they made it intentionally difficult so you would buy the Arbitrary Waveform Designer software (AWD-K1)  :P
