Question About Network Signal Analyzer

Hey everyone,

This may be a foolish question and I may be missing something, but I have a question regarding using a Network Signal Analyzer (Specifically, I'm using an SRS SR780)

I'm testing a transimpedance amplifier and instead of using a photodiode, I'm using a capacitor and a triangle waveform to generate a pulse of current. See the link below for the test setup. The second picture is that of a narrow span and the third is for a full span. My test signal is a 1kHz triangle wave. I would expect to see the 1kHz signal with a narrow pulse and then all the odd harmonics. But when I go into full span mode, my 1kHz signal is rather wide (if you measure from beginning to end of transition for that signal. When I reduce the span, the width of that signal gets narrower and narrower. Ultimately showing something that I would expect.

Am I not using the instrument properly? Not reading it correctly? Using the wrong setup on the instrument?

Your analyzer has the same issue, line width being the rough equivalent of RBW, but, maybe you can't do more than 400 lines.

Thank you...I checked and I'm tapped out at 800 lines. I currently have that selected and it does help.
