Title: Question re RIGOL DS2072A and hacking

Hi, I am thinking of buying the RIGOL DS2072A with a view to hacking it sometime in the future (may be some time as I don't need the full 300Mhz bandwidth immediately). However, looking at the specs for the 4 differnt models of the DS2000A/A-S, the time-base scale differs for each of the models. DS2072A is 5ns/div -50s/div, DS2102A is 5ns/div - 50s/div, DS2202A is 2ns/div - 1000s/div and the DS2302A is 1ns/div - 1000s/div. All other specifications are identical. If, in the future I hack this to the DS2302A, will I be stuck with the 5ns/div - 50s/div time-base scale? Would this make any significant difference in use?

No. The timebase will be reduced to 1ns when you upgrade to 300MHz bandwidth. You can shoot.

How do you hack this scope? I thought it couldn't be done.
