quick question about Agilent E7495A (broken)
« on: February 24, 2017, 11:47:53 am »
I have the opportunity to accept an offer to buy an Agilent E7495A base station test set as a spectrum analyzer for only $275.

Of course it is broken: at the very least, it has a bad LCD screen.

I feel like I might be picking nits here, but one of the cool features Shahriar mentioned was arbitrary waveform generation with option 500 (I assume); but this one has option 510.

Here is the manual. My question concerns the difference between Option 500 and Option 510; it seems like they both are waveform generators that output on port 1, but clearly the aren't the same thing.

In other words, does option 510 imply option 500?
Even though there are output power differences, is this still arbitrary waveform generation or is it something less useful.

Also, should I bite the bullet? This would be a large purchase for me.

5 hours and counting...

Hooray!

I went ahead and made the purchase in light of this; also, it seems the unit can be operated remotely without purchasing the LCD so that's even better potentially.

Thanks!
