Got mine today. What do you want to know?

What does the answer look like if you send it "*IDN?" with Ultra Sigma or whatever? Only first two fields wanted.

Wondering if there have been any ergonomic improvements between DS2072 --> DS2072A.

How loud is the fan?
Do the knobs all have some lateral free play (wiggle) or do they feel tight and smooth?
Do the horizontal and vertical positioning controls move the traces smoothly or do they jump in varying increments as you turn the knobs?

I've had a look at rigol.eu and Batronix in Germany no mention that I can see.

Never had a 2072, so it's hard to compare, but...

How loud is the fan?
Seems OK, but I get a lot of street noise where it's sitting. I think the fan(s) in my PC are much louder.

Do the knobs all have some lateral free play (wiggle) or do they feel tight and smooth?
Seems smooth enough. Some flex, but nothing off-putting or distracting. They feel pretty good overall.

Do the horizontal and vertical positioning controls move the traces smoothly or do they jump in varying increments as you turn the knobs?
Could be better I think. But quite useable anyway.

I'd be amazed if the hardware is any different from the 2072 HW v2.0

Only difference I've seen is the 50r option is supported via the menu.

Thanks Aaron.

Sounds like they are about the same.
My DS2072 knobs have about a half a millimeter of very loose lateral play which I find a bit annoying but they all do it equally, so it is probably by design (nothing to compare it to).
Really like the scope though!

I'd be really interested in seeing a capture of a CAN protocol stream, and the Event Table.  If you have a chance to give that a try.

That's actually one of the few substantial value-adds of the new A models.

I don't think I've seen you post which version of the software it's running?  Still 1.1.0.2, or something newer?

I have a reason for asking, beyond idle curiosity.  If it is newer, then that may be the reason the existing hack keys aren't working for you.  If you reflashed back to v1102, then they might.  Since I don't believe the actual hardware in these is different than the Rev2.0 hardware in some older 2072-nonA models, the main firmware would be the first place to look for a hack block/key change (though it could be elsewhere).

OTOH, if it's still v1102, then it's probably something else.  (Unless Rigol created the next version for the 2072A, but still labeled it 1.1.0.2, when it really isn't.)

Notice that they have officially discontinued the DS2072 (replaced by DS2072A) but are still selling the DS2102 and DS2202:

Sorry mate. Didn't see this question until now. I wasn't ignoring you. I think there's plenty of info over in the sniffing thread now though.

Just a heads up for shoppers in Canada:

789 $US for DS2072A oscilloscope (6% discount from Tequipment)
130 $US for handling and shipping to Canada via UPS
-----------
919 $US
65   $C for currency exchange (approximate)
  20  for bank charges (approximate)
-----------
1004 $C
112 $C for customs charges (approximate)
----------
1116 $C total (approximate)
======

about an extra 330 $C needed over the US price.  >:D

and a view from the Government of Canada   :-DD

Try and stay away from using UPS for shipping to Canada... way too expensive.  TE will ship via USPS to Canada.  Then the brokerage fee is just $5 instead of close to $50 if you use ground on UPS.

I received my DS2072A yesterday. Didnt know I would get an A-Version. Serials (Hack) are not working for me. Are the options unlockable for the A-Vesion?

I bought a DS2072 brand new from an authorized Rigol dealer, locally I might add (I'm in Halifax) for much much less than that. I don't remember the exact price, but it was low 900's with taxes (HST 15%). Good prices can be found locally. Mind you I buy A LOT from them (for work and personal, they sold me my entire Pace kit), so they gave me a bit of a deal, but I'm sure it's not hard to find.

Just an FYI  USPS is about 1/2 UPS cost and I am told it avoids brokerages and pst gst but dont quote me on taxes.

Buy from whoever you trust when something breaks.  Buy from people not just the internet.

Small world! I live in HRM too (Dartmouth). How do you like the DS2072A?
