Title: Rigol DM3058 Continuity Buzzer
Post by: 45Overload on May 04, 2016, 08:02:48 pm
Confirmed with Rigol that the DM3058 continuity and diode check noise is an annoying grunt sound instead of a higher pitched beep that most of us are used to.  If anyone has snooped around inside a 3058 and found the source of this ugly noise, I'd be interested to know more.  Naturally, the 3068 does not do this...what were they thinking?  I would be nice if something in the fw could fix it.  Otherwise we are stuck with a near useless faint pack-man error sound.

This thread is useless without an audio recording.

I found one sample in a video and it does sound rather awful, I had to crank up the volume.   :-//

Sounds more "Frogger" than "Pacman" to me.

The only hope is if it's done using a buzzer with built-in oscillator. You can get a new buzzer with a different frequency.

If it's done in software then you'll need to patch the firmware (which is be a whole project in itself).

Or ... maybe you could put an Arduino inside to detect voltages on the buzzer and shift the frequency.
