Rigol DM3058 DMM - Scraped Chips?

Hi!

I've not got round to looking at my Rigol DM3058 Dead DMM Repair Project yet, can anyone tell me if Rigol have scraped the numbers off any chips, and if so, has anyone been able to identify them, or would it need reverse engineering to do that?

It can depend on the age of the unit if the chip numbers are readable (and useful). Sometimes they scape off the numbers for the early units to make reverse engineering (or just estimating the BOM costs) a little more difficult. Later units might come with normal chips.
So the first thing would be to take a look at the actual unit.

The first steps are usually a visual inspection anyway and check of the supplies. They usually don't scrape of the number from an 7805 

The first hurdle is more like not having a circuit diagram. So it is about finding guessing good test points.
