Hello.

I have to make decision between those two. I've seen a lot information about Rigol, but almost nothing about BK. To be honest, some info about Rigol are discouraging. What's more, BK is much cheaper...

What are general opinions about BK psu? Is it reliable? What bugs does it have? If You have both, which is better for typical use (just as a regular psu).

And the question about Rigol: does OCP acts as "electronic fuse" (like in eg. Hameg), turning off the overloaded output? If so, how fast it acts? I know, that BK does not have "electronic fuse", and if Rigol has, it will "sell" DP832 to me.

Thanks in advance.

Martin.

If OCP is turned on and the current exceeds the value set for the OCP, then the DP832 will turn off that channel, and display the message "CHn overcurrent protection, disabled the output of CHn."

The channel that triggered the protection will remain off.

OCP is listed as <10ms in the manual to activate. If its a small load the output capacitance will still have some effect on shutoff time (I think its few hundred uF?).

BK is a switching supply and a bit noisier, slightly lower accuracy, but is more efficient and smaller. Display on rigol is way nicer than the BK.

Thank You. I was sure that BK is linear psu...
What about reliability? Rigol stories are little terrifying. Is this only the matter of number of samples?
On the other hand, BK looks very much like Keithley. Is it only "coincidence", or Keithley is rebranded BK? If so, things with BK looks more promising than with Rigol.

You are considering only stories from unsatisfied customers.
Happy customers don't spend time whining on the forum.
DP832 is a PSU who had issues in some batch. You must deal with it. In any case, you CAN'T find a PSU with that specs at that price.

BK rebrands 99% of its products, and it's not cheaper than the rebranded (take the "genuine").

Ok, let a happy customer spend a few seconds whining on the forum...  ;)

I bought a DP832 for personal use a few years ago and was happy enough with it to recommend it in the company where I am working. By now we have bought about 10 DP832 and DP832A PSUs, often to replace (fully working) Agilent E3649 units, because of the better features and specs of the Rigols.

And we haven't had any single issue with any of the Rigols, so far.

Thanks to all of You. It is most probable that I'll go with Rigol.
