Hey guys,
I've been using my new scope for a few days now and I've found myself getting very frustrated with the vertical position knob on this scope or maybe I just can't find a way to do what I want.
I want to zoom in on a certain point of an AC curve to measure noise Vp-p. Zooming in horizontally is a piece of cake but adjusting the vertical position is what's killing me.
Basically, ever time I change the vertical scale, the line jumps either up of down and I have to use the vertical position knob to bring back the curve I am interested in looking at.
How would I go about zooming in on the top left edge of a square wave for example without having to take 10 minutes to get there?
Cheers!

Not sure if this will help but on the 1052E there's a setting buried under Utility called "Expand Refer." Setting this to "Center" instead of the default "Ground" will keep the screen centered on the trace when you change vertical scale.
It works most of the time...
Maybe the 1054Z has a similar setting.

Sorry to say that doesn't help!

Found it!
Press Utility ? System ? VerticalExp to select “Center” or “Ground” and the default is “Ground”.
I had to change the vertical reference from ground to center. :-DD

Glad you asked. That's been annoying me too

Thankyou so muuch for sharing the tip in relation to the vertical center setting. This has made the situation so much better.
Unfortunately there is still a terribly inconvenient problem. If I have the option set to center, and for example have a signal of -18v in display,
I can change the vertical range from 20v to 1v div and the display stays centered on -18 as you would expect it to. However as soon as I change it to 200mv div range, the display will jump to centering on -2v. This seems like it might be a bug and it is so incredibly annoying. When you are at 200mv or less, it takes like 100+ turns of the wheel to re-center at -18v. Does anyone have a workaround or solution for this? I'd rather go back to an analog scope than have to do this all the time.
Many thanks

I know this is an old thread, and I found it using a search while looking for the same thing on the new DHO1000/DHO4000 scopes. I figured other people might find it using the same search terms and end up here.
The centering setting is under 'Utility -> Expand' and the options are 'GND' and 'Center'.
As follows:
