Siglent SDG2042X external modulation and trigger
« on: January 27, 2017, 11:19:40 am »
Hello

I want to Amplitude Modulate a sinus (in channel 1) with an arbitrary waveform in burst mode from channel 2. For this, the output from channel 2 is fed back into the SDG2042 via the auxillary in/out-put on the back face.  That's OK. But, at the same time, I want to start the burst in channel 2 with an external trigger and that also would have to go through the auxilliary in/out-put on the back.
I do not believe that it can take both input at the same time.
Any idea around this difficulty (I suppose I could supply trigger via the USB input but I do not know how).

Thank you for any help.

Welcome to the forum.

We have a thread dedicated to the SDG2042X and a recent question was asked on the same matter:
https://www.eevblog.com/forum/testgear/the-siglent-sdg2042x-thread/msg1117332/#msg1117332

Within the UI there are methods to accomplish this I believe as outlined in my reply to the above.
The UI offers many options, some of which are not immediately apparent and the terminology used is not always plainly clear so spend some time experimenting and let us know how you get on with finding an answer.
