RIGOL DS2000E
« on: September 12, 2017, 06:41:58 am »
RIGOL today has introduced two new model into the 2000 family:
DS2102E 100MHz 2ch 1GSa/sec per channel 28MPts (euro 579 + VAT) (USD 647 + TAX)
DS2202E 200MHz 2ch 1GSa/sec per channel 28MPts (euro 749 + VAT) (USD 847 + TAX)
both with free trigger and decoding RS232/UART, I2C, SPI, CAN and LIN

data sheet here: http://int.rigol.com/File/TechDoc/20170911/DS2000E_DataSheet_EN.pdf

atm Rigol link seems not working, here is mine I will remove after Rigol fix it
http://www.batterfly.com/PDF/RIGOL/DS2000E_DataSheet_EN-1.pdf

standard probes 350MHz model PVP2350

After long time I have realized the blue RIGOL logo is for the entry level models, see the different logo in the DP832 and the DL3000 non A

Maybe is the last "candy" before the real NEW oscilloscope line ??!!

Logo "code" seems to be more complicated :)  . DP832 has blue letter, this scope has "white" letters on blue...

It is double the price of the Siglent SDS1202X-E with similar features :--

Not exactly. If I understood well, the new DS2000E can operate *both* channels at 1 Gsps simultaneously.

Although several goodies included with the SDS1202X-E are options for the Rigol, which will increase the price considerably I imagine.

Although this is not it obviously, I am curious about Rigol's response (if any) to the "single model, single price, all you can eat" offer to hobbyists from Siglent.

Oops, I stand corrected, or not?

The datasheet mentions sku numbers for options and a "bundle" option as well, which would mean that they will sell models without options?

Alright, but that would mean that it's not a reaction to the 1202X-E, what I wanted to say :)

Interestingly they are reacting to the options hacking "scene". Look at the wording in their datasheet:

"28 Mpts/CH memory (offering the official option for free)" (bold mine)

Is there any difference between this new DS2000E series and the DS2000A series except price and the number of options pre-enabled?

The DS2000A can go up to 300Mhz and 56Mpts, usually people buy the 70Mhz one and hack it up to 300Mhz.
Of my around 8-10 scopes (I'm not sure how many I have now) the DS2072A is the one I use mostly day to day, really like it.

DS2000E can go up to 1GSa/sec per channel even when using one channel only
DS2000A con go up to 2GSa/sec when using one channel only

Looks like all the options are free if scope purchased before March 31, 2018.

DS2102E 100MHz 2ch 1GSa/sec per channel 28MPts (euro 579 + VAT) (USD 647 + TAX)
DS2202E 200MHz 2ch 1GSa/sec per channel 28MPts (euro 749 + VAT) (USD 847 + TAX)

i'd still get the DSOX1000A + decodes for that price. Memory ain't everything

I'm wondering what the added value is between from Rigol DS2000E compared to the Siglent 1202X-E. IIRC the Rigol DS2000 series isn't exactly free of bugs.
There are small lies, big lies and then there is what is on the screen of your oscilloscope.

Looking at the specs I would say the sampling rate and the memory. Looking at the applications we have provided several DS2000A to the industry into automatic test equipment where the good sensitivity and the strong shielding are very much appreciated. So far we haven't see the SDS1202X-E on the same environment so it is difficult to say.

How do they get 500 picosecond peak detection out of a sample rate of 1 GS/s and 200 MHz of bandwidth?

I think it is a typing mistake, pretty sure it is 1ns.
We have informed RIGOL which will reply or modify the PDF.

Hello,

is the 500 ?V/div true or is it only a digital zoom as in the DS2072?

Best regards

From the datasheet:

Note[3]: 500 ?V/div is a magnification of 1 mV/div. When calculating the DC Gain Accuracy, the full scale should be considered as 8 mV (calculated based on 1 mV/div).

After a 5 day struggle to get this thing through customs it is finally here. Will put it through its paces the weekend. Bought the 100 MHz version for $582.30 including shipping from arrow.com, granted I did get a 10% discount.

All the options are not for free on mine out of the box. Will contact Rigol and see what they say.
